Three major exhibits comprise the Sequoia Park Zoo: the Barnyard, the Aviary and the Secrets of the Forest. Each exhibit is designed to allow different species of animals to interact with one another, creating displays more true to the natural world than a typical zoo's single-species areas. Key animals on display outside of the primary exhibits include black bears, spider monkeys and nyalas. The zoo is located in southern Eureka, next to the Humboldt Bay and about 40 miles south of the awe-inspiring Redwood National Forest.
